DO YOU WANT TO BE A MISSIONARY FOR A WEEK?
We all have so much to be thankful for this year. You are all so generous and kind to this little unorganized organization that is A Simple Faith. We do things like this on occasion but this year, it’s especially called for. Your church council has decided to donate a Thanksgiving blessing of $1,000 to each of the following charitable organizations who are close to our hearts:
Blue Skies Ministries
Canaan Recovery Foundation
Caring & Sharing
Family Life Ministries
Food for Thought
Habitat for Humanity
Haven House Mission
His Children / Sus Hijos in El Salvador
Salvation Army Local
Alex Cardoza, the man in El Salvador whom Simple Faith has helped get through three years of college so he can teach English, will graduate in December. I am putting two congratulations cards on the table in the lobby of the church. Please sign and congratulate him as he will be so excited to hear from everyone! There is also an envelope if you would like to contribute a few dollars to help him get started in his teaching career. John will return to El Salvador December 1st and will deliver this to him.
AN IDEA: When sending a prayer request, we’d love to include a picture of the person who needs prayer! If you have one, we’ll publish it along with the request. We’d also appreciate it if you’d write an update so our warriors know how things are progressing. Thanks!
Please pray for Joyce Ward.
She went to the Emergency Room at Sacred Heart with a migraine. She was diagnosed with a brain tumor and swelling of the brain. She was airlifted to Sacred Heart Pensacola for possible emergency surgery tonight. If we receive updated information, we will let you know. Thanks everyone.
PLEASE PRAY FOR RAIN!!! Areas near my mother’s house in Chattanooga, i.e., Signal Mtn., and others, are raging fires! Smoke is visible all over the area. Also, counties in SC and NC are being evacuated. My grandson, at Clemson, says smoke is in the air there. We had such a beautiful October, warm, but, NO RAIN! And none in sight, at this time. I can appreciate more, now, after hearing about fires in the western part of the USA, but we need rain. I am just so sorry for their worries. It could break out here anytime, since we have had fire warnings for weeks.
Also, the wife of my precious nephew, in Orlando, miscarried at 12 weeks. Jennifer and Trey Lloyd. This would have been their second child. The entire family is heartsick, and they know God knows, but so disappointing after waiting and planning the time for child #2.
Bible Study starting Wednesday, November 30 at 10:00 at A Simple Faith. It’s a 4-week Advent study, “Awaiting The Already”, An Advent Journey through the Gospels. (Author: Magrey R. deVega.) Judy Skinner will lead the study. The dates: Nov 30th-Dec 21st. Everyone is welcome to join us as we prepare to slow down and really focus on Who we celebrate during this Holy Season of Advent. Those coming to Advent Bible Study can get a book at the church on Sunday for $9.50 or purchase on Amazon or for kindle.
An “oldie” but very sweet…
On a cold day in December, some years ago a little boy, about 10-years-old, was standing before a shoe store on the roadway, barefooted, peering through the window, and shivering with cold.
A lady approached the young boy and said, ‘My, but you’re in such deep thought staring in that window!’
‘I was asking God to give me a pair of shoes,’ was the boy’s reply.
The lady took him by the hand, went into the store, and asked the clerk to get half a dozen pairs of socks for the boy. She then asked if he could give her a basin of water and a towel. He quickly brought them to her.
She took the little fellow to the back part of the store and, removing her gloves, knelt down, washed his little feet, and dried them with the towel.
By this time, the clerk had returned with the socks. Placing a pair upon the boy’s feet, she purchased him a pair of shoes.
She tied up the remaining pairs of socks and gave them to him. She patted him on the head and said, ‘No doubt, you will be more comfortable now.’
As she turned to go, the astonished kid caught her by the hand, and looking up into her face, with tears in his eyes, asked her:
‘Are you God’s wife?’
