1000 Bags of Blessings UPDATE

Thank you for your donations! We have reached our $10 a bag goal! We have ordered 500 stuffed animals so every child will get one thanks to one person’s generous donation.

As for donations, any more diapers, feminine products and adult diapers or money to buy them) will be icing on the cake. Remember this is an ongoing need. The summer jobs have ended and the gardens are no longer producing so as usual we see an increase in the number of families needing help through the winter. While the food pantry meets most of the food needs, the shelves often are empty after a pantry. A Simple Faith, at this time, is the only church that provides the diapers, feminine products and adult diapers. Please talk to Cyndi for a better understanding of the need and how you might help including coming up with us at Christmas.

PARTY  (PARTIES) There will be shopping and stuffing parties in the days ahead! Watch for notices and announcements of dates and times. Elf costume optional!

You can still help in several different ways. Monetary Donations are accepted. Put RR Christmas in the note line and make checks out to A Simple Faith Church. Or simply give money to Cyndi Talty for gifts.

Shopping– join Cyndi and Kim Ryals and many others with shopping trips. We sometimes go into a store and divide and conquer.

Ideas for Children
hats (fun ones)
toy cars
stuffed animals (see Cyndi before buying)
coloring books & crayons
pencils and other school supplies (fun ones)
small games

Women’s items
cooking items
bath and body lotions
Christmas items for home or tree
Kitchen items
Beauty items
nail polish and remover
costume jewelry

Men’s items
small tool sets
pocket knives
coffee mugs for the car
Any single tool also would work
Kerchiefs for neck, etc.
socks (no embarassing ones LOL)
work items like tool belts or lunch boxes
Food and candy

We usually try to put in some kind of food gift in each bag. Bags of candy, pez dispensers with candy, cans filled with popcorn, nuts, beef jerky and little cookie tins, etc. We want everyone to have a little taste of Christmas.

We appreciate everything you do. It is probably easier to buy 10 of the same item so that it looks like we are being equal to everyone.

Don’t forget to bless yourself and help us pass out gifts on December 17th.

Matthew 25:40
“And the King will say, ‘I tell you the truth, when you did it to one of the least of these my brothers and sisters, you were doing it to me!’

ASF is planning a trip to Sus Hijos in El Salvador for February 7-14.  We will be building at least one house, visiting the orphanages and children’s prisons and will be feeding the homeless, to name a few of the things that we will do.
We are looking for volunteers to go with us and help us with this ministry.  We don’t have the cost as of yet but it will be around $1000.  It depends on how many people are going and how many houses we want to build.
If you are interested, please contact Barbara Tape……barbara@digitalpark.com…….If you feel led to go with us and do not have the funds there will be some scholarship money available to help out.
More details will follow as our plans progress.

thanWe all have so much to be thankful for this year. You are all so generous and kind to this little unorganized organization that is A Simple Faith. We do things like this on occasion but this year, it’s especially called for. Your church council has decided to donate a Thanksgiving blessing of $1,000 to each of the following charitable organizations who are close to our hearts:

Blue Skies Ministries
Canaan Recovery Foundation
Caring & Sharing
Family Life Ministries
Food for Thought
Habitat for Humanity
Haven House Mission
His Children / Sus Hijos in El Salvador
Salvation Army Local
Samaritan’s Purse

“Crash the Chatterbox: Hearing God’s Voice Above All Others” by Steven Furtick

Recommended by Jeff Allen, it’s definitely a good read!

51kgzwr9ddl“I used to think that someone who struggled with the kinds of weaknesses I deal with daily was useless to God. I felt so often like I was drowning in internal dialogue I couldn’t control. It had been the soundtrack of my life for as long as I could remember.

Yet everything changed when I began to realize God has given us the ability to choose the dialogue we believe and respond to. And once we learn how, we can switch from lies to truth as deliberately as we can choose the Beatles over Miley Cyrus on satellite radio.  Read more…

prayerAN IDEA: When sending a prayer request, we’d love to include a picture of the person who needs prayer!  If you have one, we’ll publish it along with the request.  We’d also appreciate it if you’d write an update so our warriors know how things are progressing.  Thanks!

Please keep my friend’s husband, Fred K in your prayers.  He will be undergoing intense radiation and cancer treatments over the period of the next 2 weeks.  Your prayers would be most appreciated.

Thank you,
Nina Horn

This is what happens when your child is exposed to too many commercials on TV.

A Baptist pastor was presenting a children’s sermon.  During the sermon, he asked the children if they knew what the resurrection was.

Now, asking questions during children’s sermons is crucial, but at the same time, asking children questions in front of a congregation can also be very dangerous.

Having asked the children if they knew the meaning of the resurrection, a little boy raised his hand…

The pastor called on him and the little boy said, “I know that if you have a resurrection that lasts more than four hours you are supposed to call the doctor.”
