the spirit of the season!

What better illustration of the reason for the season than this lovely picture of the Skinner’s grandchildren as Mary and Joseph?  I couldn’t resist!

our elves are still going strong!

A rabbit has been given in your honor!

In the honor of A Simple Faith Kids for their very hard work on decorating and writing notes for the 1000 Bags of Blessings. They have earned these bunnies.

d4041719Rabbits multiply the blessings of every family receiving them! The rabbit given in your name will provide a family with a sustainable source of food and income. With their short gestation period, a pair of rabbits can become 50 rabbits in just one year, giving a family the hope of a brighter future.

Sus Hijos kids working in ohio!!!

All 4 of these young adults have been in the Sus Hijos Transition Program in El Salvador.  They lived in the transition houses and worked at the States Diner in the restaurant training program for 2 years as well.  All 4 did a great job and have received a 2-year work visa in the USA.  So excited and nervous when they arrived in Ohio in October; they thought it was cold then.  Ha!

Steve Portillo, Patti, Frank, Raquel, Victor and Kurt Ackermann (President of Sus Hijos)

They are working second shift in the pattern division for a company that makes airline parts.  They pour and assemble wax molds that are then sent to foundries to make airline engine parts.  Each one is so excited to have an opportunity to improve their quality of life!

2nd from left is Patti, 4th is Victor and last is Raquel (Yes, she does have a coat!)
Frank is not pictured as he is at work.

If you would like to, please send a card, cookies or anything that comes to mind.  They miss their friends and country customs during this Christmas season.

The address is: Send to Raquel, Patti, Victor and Frank  121 East 211 Street Euclid, Ohio 44123

blessing bags

Here’s an idea you might want to try, especially as you move about from place to place during this Christmas season, although it would be perfect year round to keep a few with you.

Keep a “Blessing bag” or two in your car in case you find someone in need. You can make these up with items from the Dollar Tree such as gloves, thermal socks, beef sticks, crackers, candy bars, toothpaste, toothbrush, wipes, deodorant, snacks and other items that may help someone who is homeless or in a bad way. Random acts of kindness take very little to change the life of just one person.

Yoga classes for the holiday season!

Nancy Gross, MS, RYT200+, invites all to come experience a yoga practice that incorporates each week’s theme of hope, peace, love and joy celebrating the Advent season. Take some time each week to prepare your body, mind, and heart for the celebration of Christmas!

Classes at A Simple Faith are Monday 5:30-6:30PM and Thursday 8:30-9:30AM. or The Healing Terrace 769 Eden Drive, Point Washington, Florida 32459 Monday, Tuesday & Friday 9:00-10:15AM. Please call or email your questions and reservation. 850-797-6926 or nancydgross@gmail.com.

ASF is planning a trip to Sus Hijos in El Salvador for February 7-14.  We will be building at least one house, visiting the orphanages and children’s prisons and will be feeding the homeless, to name a few of the things that we will do.
We are looking for volunteers to go with us and help us with this ministry.  We don’t have the cost as of yet but it will be around $1000.  It depends on how many people are going and how many houses we want to build.
If you are interested, please contact Barbara Tape……barbara@digitalpark.com…….If you feel led to go with us and do not have the funds there will be some scholarship money available to help out.
More details will follow as our plans progress.

thanWe all have so much to be thankful for this year. You are all so generous and kind to this little unorganized organization that is A Simple Faith. We do things like this on occasion but this year, it’s especially called for. Your church council has decided to donate a Thanksgiving blessing of $1,000 to each of the following charitable organizations who are close to our hearts:

Blue Skies Ministries
Canaan Recovery Foundation
Caring & Sharing
Family Life Ministries
Food for Thought
Habitat for Humanity
Haven House Mission
His Children / Sus Hijos in El Salvador
Salvation Army Local
Samaritan’s Purse

Charlie’s Favorite Christmas by Bryan Kennedy

41r4zhoxpwlAll children have a favorite memory of their favorite Christmas. And these memories of this sacred holiday only become sweeter with time and a little understanding. Charlie, eleven years old, had planned for months on how to get exactly what he wanted that year for Christmas by only asking for one thing, so he’d be sure he’d find it under the tree. But instead, he got an even bigger surprise. What seemed like his worst Christmas ever would turn into a gift of a lifetime. Truly, a Christmas he would always remember, and a story you will never forget.

prayerAN IDEA: When sending a prayer request, we’d love to include a picture of the person who needs prayer!  If you have one, we’ll publish it along with the request.  We’d also appreciate it if you’d write an update so our warriors know how things are progressing.  Thanks!

GOOD NEWS!  Saddi Fadaq, the friend of Kim and Tim Ryals daughter Hannah and her husband James Andress has been found alive and safe!  Thank you all for your prayers!

Prayers are needed for my husband, Ken. He is still undergoing chemo for treatment of bile duct cancer (15-months now!) and has a CT-scan coming up on the 14th. We’re obviously hoping for great results. Your prayers would be most appreciated.
God bless,
Lorraine Sloan
