A great, and hearty thank you to Terry Olive who has served on our council from A Simple Faith’s inception. He has recently made the decision to step away from this responsibility. He writes, “It is time for me to slow and step down from many activities. It has been my pleasure to serve God by serving the people of A Simple Faith Church.” Additionally, Michael and Laura Granberry will be assuming Terry and Dianne’s former role as greeters (and coordinating greeters).
I hope you will join me in thanking Terry and Dianne for all they have done, and for all they will continue to do, here at A Simple Faith.
Ronnie and the entire ASF community
There is a group of us that meets most Wednesday mornings at A Simple Faith for Bible Study. This story is a typical example of one of our gatherings which perhaps will encourage you to join us sometime.
I have had a difficult couple of weeks. My younger sister passed away a month ago and I was hit suddenly with “the anger stage” of grief. Out of nowhere I began to feel extremely impatient, ungrateful, a serious absence of joy, and to be honest, downright mean. I didn’t attend class last week. Instead, I sat at home and stewed over all the inconveniences and injustices in my world. I turned away from talking to God about my woes and just ignored that big book on my nightstand for a week or two. The anxiety and general malaise I was feeling continued and expanded.
Today, I went to Bible Study and joined the group of people I have come to know and trust so well. We’re covering a study on Prayer by Jim Cymbala and facilitated by Jen Kelley. (Dream Team of Bible study). We discussed the promises that God has made to us in His holy word, the Bible. As a group and individually we read aloud several scriptures in which God promises; He hears us when we pray to Him, we can always believe and trust Him, we can take refuge in Him, He gives us strength, He will sustain us in our sorrow, if we ask Him He will give us wisdom. He forgives us, protects us, and His love for us in unfailing and cannot be shaken. What more can we ask? And yet, there are many more amazing promises from God to us in His holy words.
We split up into groups of two and prayed specifically for our other person by referencing scripture promises. We then laid our hands on Judy Skinner and covered her and John in prayer as they are bravely and devotedly leaving for the mission field in El Salvador tomorrow. We cried tears of joy together as we all experienced wordlessly the same powerful feeling which was the unequivocal and indisputable presence of God with us in that room and that without a doubt He was well pleased.
I left Bible study today, not with a changed mood or an attitude adjustment but with an invigorated, renewed and joy-filled heart. No more yelling at the summer pedestrians for me. If you have a Wednesday morning free sometime, please come join us, we’d love to have you. It is always good fellowship and time truly well spent with our Lord and a truly amazing group of sisters and brothers.
Peace + Joy, Deb Riccitelli

Due to technical issues, recent recordings of our services have been unavailable. We are resolving an issue with our cameras and recording equipment and, once resolved, we’ll be back online. We’re sorry for the inconvenience.
“The Traveling Twenties”
(AKA Random Acts of Kindness)
It started one day with an eye-opening realization. Not everyone had enough to eat or a friend or smile or heat or even a place to lay their head at night. Everyone was different. Everyone was in need and some were in need more than others. Twenties found their way into some very interesting adventures when they were put into the hands of those who cared but were unable to do. Those people then put twenties into the hands of those who saw but didn’t have twenties to give. When hearts say help and God says move, adventures are soon to follow!!!
Adventure 11 coming soon!

Where Is God When It Hurts? by Philip Yancey
If there is a loving God, then why is it that …?
You’ve heard that question, perhaps asked it yourself. No matter how you complete it, at its root lies the issue of pain.
Does God order our suffering? Does he decree an abusive childhood, orchestrate a jet crash, steer a tornado through a community? Or did he simply wind up the world’s mainspring and now is watching from a distance?
In this Gold Medallion Award–winning book, Philip Yancey reveals a God who is neither capricious nor unconcerned. Using examples from the Bible and from his own experiences, Yancey looks at pain—physical, emotional, and spiritual—and helps us understand why we suffer. Where Is God When It Hurts? will speak to those for whom life sometimes just doesn’t make sense. And it will help equip anyone who wants to reach out to someone in pain but just doesn’t know what to say.

Mentor – Become a mentor to a child in South Walton County today!
Please pray for Tonya Kilpatrick’s friend and our neighbor Nancy Brown. She has recently found out she has a brain tumor. It may or may not be malignant. She and her family need our prayers.
Mary and Tony Burger are dear friends of mine from Atlanta and always attend ASF when they are in town. Tony has been admitted to a hospital in Atlanta with a blood clot in his leg along with an infection and a possible blood clot in his lung.
We are asking for prayers for him and his entire family during this time and that he will make a full recovery.
Please pray for Bob James’ mom/my mother in law, Maryanne James. She is approaching 91, and has had two eye surgeries in 6 months. As of the second surgery, she is totally blind. Please pray she regains her sight. She lives alone and all three children are hours away. We are all trying to figure out affordable, dependable care. She is very strong willed… both a blessing and a curse:)
Please pray for her three children, Bob, Judith, & Glenn… they need every prayer you can imagine, as this time is very stressful on family relations. I’ll take a prayer or two myself, as I’m always “Looking for the Pony.”
Please pray boldly for Maryanne James and her family. Much appreciated!
Hilda McDonald had semi-emergency surgery yesterday to remove her most recent knee replacement. It had become contaminated with a bacterial infection. The surgery went well. After a few days she will be at physical rehab, will return home, and after all infection is resolved have a new knee replacement. Please remember her in your prayers.
I’d like to thank our Simple Faith family for their prayers and well wishes for my mother-in-law Grace Losapio. Mom’s surgery was a success, and she is now in rehab, working hard and looking forward to going back to her assisted living apartment.
Thank you all, in Christ’s Love,
Please put my very good friend Jay and her husband for strength on our prayer list for God to look over her and bless both of them with healing. She found out today she has throat cancer. Still awaiting one more test to see if it has moved to other glands to see if she will elect surgery or treatments. She’s a great lady and does so much for so many, and never complains. She fought breast cancer and won, please pray she will concur and win once again.
