Erin Enderlin has helped listeners see through other’s eyes for years. She is the writer behind award-winning songs “Monday Morning Church” by Alan Jackson and “Last Call” by Lee Ann Womack, critically acclaimed “You Don’t Know Jack” by Luke Bryan, and a host of other songs for Randy Travis, Terri Clark, Joey + Rory, Tyler Farr, Tara Thompson, Muscadine Bloodline, and more. As an artist, she’s opened shows with Willie Nelson, Marty Stuart, Kip Moore, Terri Clark, and more. Enderlin has also emerged as one of those artists other artists are listening to. Merle Haggard dubbed Enderlin a “wonderful singer,” while Miranda Lambert calls her a “badass.” “She’s a great writer and singer,” Lee Ann Womack says. “I’m always excited to hear her stuff.”
Enderlin’s voice is a force––smooth, strong, and rich, equally capable of barreling through a run, pulling more emotion out of a single note than seemed possible, or delivering subdued, almost spoken, quips. As a writer, she is interested in the motivation behind and aftermath of choices in all kinds of relationships, from romantic to familial to how we view home. Her latest album, Whiskeytown Crier, was produced by Jamey Johnson and when Erin Enderlin writes a song, more is born than melody and rhyme. Women and men leap from her music, as fully formed and real as we are, all blood and sweat, living, loving, killing, and dying.

In Levi Lowrey’s universe, music and a sense of community are inseparable. He recalls his grandparents taking him to jam sessions every Friday night at the “Chicken House” on Gid Tanner’s farm. It was just that—a converted chicken house—in which local musicians gathered for joy, relief and companionship. “That was the beginning of music,” he says. “Before you had records being sold and the commercialization of music, it was primarily a get-together. That was the reason for it. It always belonged in a community. I feel we’ve lost sight of that. Now it’s about record sales and touring and concerts and things of that nature. I don’t get quite as much fulfillment from that as I do sitting around on the front porch playing with a bunch of guys.”
Lowrey’s two-disc Roots and Branches is a majestic record. In the best of all possible worlds, it would be heard in an acoustically perfect concert hall by an audience that sits undistracted in the dark listening intently to its exquisitely sculpted lyrics, transcendent melodies and intricately woven instrumentation. Lowrey is a former opening act for the Zac Brown Band and co-writer of the ZBB hits, “Colder Weather,” “The Wind” and “Day for the Dead.”

While bartending and managing in the local bar scene, Wyatt Durrette eventually settled in Atlanta, GA where he managed The Dixie Tavern. It was at this local Atlanta hangout where Wyatt met Zac Brown who was part of The Dixie’s weekly entertainment. Wyatt’s collaboration with Zac has resulted in forty total songs which led to twenty two million singles sold, eight million albums sold and twelve #1 hits, to be exact.
Hot off the heels of a Grammy win for the Zac Brown Band as “Best New Artist,” the band made history as the first artist to achieve four #1 songs in a row from a debut album—all four of these songs co-written by Wyatt, including #1 platinum hits “Chicken Fried,” “Toes,” as well as “Whatever It Is,” and “Highway 20 Ride.” The number “1” has been a recurring number for these songs, reaching top status on numerous charts including Billboard, iTunes, Mediabase, R&R/BDS, CMT and GAC.”

Dear Friends,

Many of you may know that my wife Cindy and I founded ReNew late last year to respond to the devastation of the 2017 Hurricane Season. ReNew, a not-for-profit organization, has a threefold goal: 1) To mobilize individuals, churches, and groups to respond to disaster needs; 2) To localize aid, responding to individuals, families, and specific neighborhoods; and, 3) To stabilize the lives of those who have suffered loss.

This work has begun in earnest in the town of Caguas, Puerto Rico, with “Gosen Iglesia De La Familia” (the Gosen Family Church). Gosen is a Protestant, Pentecostal church with several hundred members (pre-hurricanes), pastored by Jésus and Julia Madera. The congregation conducted an extensive community-based ministry, and their building served as a major “service center.” ReNew is currently rebuilding Gosen’s building, and in turn, restoring their community-based ministries.

Rebuilding Gosen’s facility will involves the following major considerations:

  1. Raising $50,000 for building materials, in-territory labor, furnishing destroyed or looted, and execution of the project (a full Budget is available). This includes all necessary materials to restore Gosen’s worship space, educational wing, and administrative offices.
  2. Mobilizing and sending four to six construction teams to complete the work. If adequate volunteer teams cannot be mobilized, additional funds would have to be raised to pay in-territory contractors and /or builders.
  3. Time is of the essence, as the facility has been in shambles for months. It is impossible, in this condition, to minister effectively. Further, the 2018 Hurricane Season looms large on the near horizon. Ideally, the project will be completed by mid-summer 2018.

Here is what you can do:

Give. The Caguas project is reliant upon funding. All donations to ReNew for this project will be used for charitable purposes within the meaning of section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code (Federal EIN: 82-2916148). Giving can be done by mailing a check to: Renew; 16400 Highway 331 South; Suite B2, Box 275; Freeport, Florida, 32439. You can also give by online means.

Go. Four to six teams are needed in Puerto Rico over the next six months. This translates to 50 – 100 people able to do tear-out, light construction, frame, paint, and be able to meet physically demands of a tropical monsoon climate. Contact Team Leaders John Skinner (jbs30a@gmail.com) or Al Stewart (alstewart13@bellsouth.net) to join a team.

Guide. Become a leader who will organize, recruit, coordinate and lead a mission team to Puerto Rico. This can be from your church, work, school, friends or family. ReNew will assist you in this process.

Thank you for giving and for going.

Additional information is always available at www.ReNewFlorida.org.
