August…

IT’S NOT TOO LATE TO JOIN US!

We have a reservation at Sus Hijos from August 5-11. We currently have 11 people in our group. We welcome any contributions if anyone is interested. Socks, boxers, girls’ underwear are always needed. Clothing for children and adults is great, and small toys and trinkets for kids are wonderful too!  If you’d like to contribute, please contact Andrea directly at andrealafr@aol.com or 518-588-0068 or drop donation off at their store, 30A Olive Oil Company, in Inlet Beach. She’d like all donations by this Friday because they will be leaving for El Salvador on Sunday, August 5.

MUSIC EVENTS FOR AUGUST!

We have two charity benefits in August at the Warehouse:

Aug 15 is the Blues Masters Tribute raising money for St Jude’s and The Foye Belle Foundation. Tickets are $20, Doors open at 6, music at 6:30, featuring sets from John Wolcott, Katie Smith, the Forest Williams Band and Nic Turner.

The Alex Guthrie Band Brings A Little Soul
To The Warehouse!

Aug 23 is the Alex Guthrie Band raising money for the Emerald Coast Children’s Advocacy Center. Tickets at $20, doors at 6pm, music at 7.

Tickets for both shows are available from either the Warehouse web site (www.warehouse360music.com) or at Eventbrite.com.

We would greatly appreciate it if anyone has a few minutes after church to help Billy and me clean up!  We get to church at 8am and frequently don’t get to leave until 11:45 or so!  The trash cans and coffee pots have to be emptied, and food put away. Everyone is rushing out, talking about lunch plans, and lately no one offers help anymore!

Thanks and blessings!Nancy and Billy McConnell

SHOEBOX REMINDER!

I encourage ASF members to take advantage of tax-free days and school supplies for filling their Operation Day Christmas Child (OCC) shoeboxes.  Alex shared his gratitude for the gifts in his shoebox that were school supply items. NO GLUE!! Gearing up for OCC and the prayers and God’s Love. Boxes are on order! Love to all who pack a box – Nancy Gross 850-797-6926.

I CAN AND I WILL!

“It was 2 o’clock in the morning. The darkness was powerfully frightening, and I saw the fear in my wife’s face with every flash. We had $19.70 to our names with no where to live and no where to go.” This is a story about hard-learned lessons, a family’s survival, and the goodness of God that changes lives.

Hey everyone!!! Order your copy of “I Can And I Will” today!!! You can go to Amazon and search Rick Stanfield under the book section and you’ll see it!  If you want to get it quick, CLICK HERE!

READERS’ CORNER:

Find a Quiet Corner: Inner Peace: Anytime, Anywhere by Nancy O’Hara

While working through my grief with the help and love of cherished friends, I stumbled upon this little book.  It has helped me tremendously to heal and find my inner peace, and I’d like to share it you.

Two of Nancy O’Hara’s best-selling books now in a single volume. In the first book, O’Hara introduces mindful breathing, a practice that can help gain peace of mind. She offers suggestions for finding the time to devote to it, where to set up your quiet corner, and what to do once you’re there. The second book builds on these practices and shows you how to bring them into the rest of your life.

Available for the first time in a single volume, this new edition features two of Nancy O’Hara’s bestselling books, revised and updated with a new introduction by the author.

Going beyond daily meditation with God’s guidance, Find a Quiet Corner teaches us effective ways to release stress, boost energy, tap into creativity, improve our well-being, and above all, achieve spiritual fulfillment. Readers will benefit from its lessons on how to increase self-awareness and personal satisfaction through careful attention to breath. Serenity in Motion makes the perfect companion book, guiding us to look at conflict differently, communicate more effectively, and embrace confusion so as to invite serenity into our lives and banish anxiety. O’Hara’s comforting words help us to meet each moment as it comes.

Wednesday Bible Study is on summer break. Contact Jen or Jackie with any questions. Upcoming study information coming soon.
